I LOVE GREAT CREATIVITY...
Just saw this YouTube video on Garr Reynolds blog (Presentation Zen). The video is called LOST GENERATION - fascinating, creative, emotive, powerful.
Hi, my name is Kurt and starting a blog feels a little like starting a one-person support group for myself. By profession, I'm an Insultant (err...I mean, Consultant). But while titles describe what we do, this blog is more about who I am and how I think (though I love what I do, so the two tend to get mixed up). So, welcome to my blog (and I promise, no "here's what I did on my trip to Hawaii" posts)!
Why "Rhino_Soul?"
In his book THE BARBARIAN WAY, Erwin McManus uses a “group” of rhinoceros’ to illustrate what we (or at least I), as a child of God should be more like. A group of rhinoceros’ is called a “crash” – just like a group of lions is called a “pride.” The reason they are called a crash is that they can run at over 30 miles per hour. The irony is that the have horrible eyesight: they can only see 30 FEET(!) in front of them. In other words, once a group of rhinos is on the move – you better get out of the way. At 30 miles an hour, there is no way they can see far enough ahead to stop in time. Hence, they are called a CRASH (even when they are standing still). My whole life, I’ve been encouraged to “run slow” – to make sure I can stop in time (and to make sure I don’t make any mistakes). I think most of us have. Except, there’s a problem with that (a problem that can’t be explained in a simple paragraph). So, that’s what “Rhino_Soul” is all about. It’s about being tired with the status quo. It’s about being tired with “playing it safe.” It’s about taking risks and running faster that our eyes can see. It’s about … well … it’s about time we started to make a real difference in this world. Even if we experience a few “crashes” along the way.
ABOUT MY POSTS
Here are a few descriptions of the posts on this blog:
Just Ranting
Many of my posts fall under this category. Most days I just feel a need to rant a little bit. Beauty. Justice. Injustice. Stupidity (uhh ... I mean, "humanity"). Brilliance. And sometimes, just plain funny...
Stewardship - Getting It Right
The original term for "steward" had direct connotations to the guy tending the vineyard and overseeing wine-making. Hey, when you live this close to California wine country, you gotta love the imagery. Besides, wasn't Jesus' first miracle turning water into GREAT wine? Hmmm ... Joseph Phelps Insignia, Kosta-Brown Pinot or MOLLYDOOKER "Two Left Feet" (my personal favorite!) - it's anyone's guess! These posts are about getting it right...
